Dr. Melvin R. Whittle
 Senior Pastor

Dr. Melvin Roy Whittle was born April 9, 1957 and is the Fraternal Twin to older brother Marvin Ray Whittle of Fresno, Ca. Melvin was born and raised in Fresno California to the Parents of Elzie and Carmel Whittle; he also has 7 other brothers and sisters still living in California. Dr. Whittle was a member of the St. Rest Baptist Church of Fresno, Ca. were the late Dr. Chester Riggins was Pastor. Dr. Whittle was baptized at the early age of 11 years old and was for years youth pianist for the youth choir at St. Rest for many years.

Dr. Melvin Whittle is the husband to Lady Lucy Sevier-Whittle. He is the father and step father to 8 grown children, 5 girls and 3 boys, grandfather to 32 and great grand father to 2 beautiful little girls.

Dr. Whittle received his early childhood education in the West Fresno School District. After graduating from Washington Union High School he went on to attend California State University of Fresno.  Dr. Whittle left the Central Valley of California and went on to study Theology at Bishop College in Dallas Texas in 1981.  In 2001 Dr.whittle received his Bachelor of Science degree in Christian Theology, from Sacramento Theological. Later in 2008, Dr. Whittle received his Doctor of Divinity Degree from St John Theological Seminary a high honor for someone who has worked hard and long for many years in the ministry.

 After Dr.  Whittle returned to California he has served faithfully, working with several church families from Fresno to San Francisco giving of his many talents from Preaching, Teaching to Music. Dr. Whittle has the ability to make the Organ and Piano grateful they were made; it has been said that Pastor Whittle plays every key on the Piano and it sure looks like it and sounds good!

Pastor Whittle was called to the  First Baptist Church on July 28, 1998. He has implemented many programs and services at the First Baptist Church. Pastor Whittle has made many, many strides in our surrounding communities where he serves and is respected by all who know him.

In 2009 Pastor and Lady Lucy will be celebrating 11 years on the battle field in Los Banos.

Executive Board member of the Los Banos Rescue Mission
